Kolkata: After winning this week’s realty show “Kaun Banega Super Singer” Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerjee decided to compete for Indian Idol.
This Tuesday, Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerjee took time from her busy political schedules (like Singur) to cheer contestants at “Star Ananda Ji TV’s” “Kaun Banega Super Singer” realty show. Unexpectedly the anchor called her on stage and requested her to sing a song. Though hesitating initially, Mamata started singing few lines of “Ye mere watan ke logo”. Though Mamata stopped after singing first few lines, loud cheers from the crowd (mostly Trinamool Party workers) forced her to complete the full song. Though she haven’t originally registered to contest, the star studded judgment panel comprising, Sourav Ganguly - former Indian Cricket Team captain, Jagmohan Dalmiya - former BCCI president, Gopalakrishna Gandhi - Governor of West Bengal selected Mamata as the “Best fresh talent” of the year 2009.
This sudden recognition had made Mamata to consider competing this year’s Sun India Ji TV’s “Indian Idol” realty show. Though Mamata declined to disclose details, known sources said Mamata already started taking classes from Bollywood greats Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeskar. What’s more inspiring Mamata is the fact, “Indian Idol” winner will be presented with “Tata Nano” car by none other than Mr. Ratan Tata himself.
Worried by the intelligence reports that Mamata may use her singing talent in the forthcoming elections, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya decided to take dance classes from Chennai dance master Prabhu Deva.
People of West Bengal fear contests between “Super Singer opposition leader” and “Dance Master CM” during election campaigns. Some residents of West Bengal even took an extreme decision to take refugee in neighboring Bangladesh during West Bengal elections.
