Mid May election results gave the incumbent Congress led UPA a comfortable majority. Post parliamentary election results the Indian Share markets soar by more than 50 percent. But this economic rise hasn’t benefitted every section of the society. No we are not talking again about rural farmers or urban poor. The latest concern is aboutdecreasing demand for smaller party MP’s who used to earn a lot and”bite more than they can chew” because of minority central governments formed for the past two decades.

So these small party / Third front leaders decided to demonstrate outside the Parliament demanding bail-out for them. Some of them like JD(S) Deve Gowda from Karnataka and SP Amar Singh from UP were most vocal.

Deve Gowda, a senior southern politician, said, “Before election results came, Congress leaders like S.M. Krishna were in constant touch with me. They even promised mining industry ministry to us; so that we can jointly take on mighty Reddy brother’s of Bellary BJP.” Upon hearing the word “Mining”, Gowda’s son Kumaraswamy started weeping “Mine is mine, Mine is mine”. Pointing to Kumarawamy, Gowda asked reporters, “Now tell me, who will console him”.

The story in northern gangetic plains is not much different. Amar Singh, the spokesperson for Hindi heartland also complained his party was humiliated. He said, “When the last UPA government was in trouble getting support for Indo-US deal remember how much trust / cash we(Samajwadi Party) earned from ruling Congress party. We were able to extort so much cash, we can even buy handful of BJP MP’s. You remember the great scene in our parliament when some stupid BJP MP’s poured money on parliament floor. I think those golden moments of Indian democracy are gone for ever. He also added, “Now, Myself and Mulayam don’t know how much returns this investment will give us” - pointing to the 20 plus Samajwadi MP’s sitting like sheep’s at a corner.

BSP parliamentary leader, Akil Mishra also agreed with Amar Singh. Possibly this is the only issue rivals SP and BSP agrees. Akil added, “We too earned trust / cash of congress high command during election of Prathiba Pateel as president. Now see we are standing like beggars in front of parliament”. The mood of other leaders from gangetic plains like Lalu and Paswan were quite similar - humbled / humiliated, but they maintained low profile.

Again all attention turned to Gowda father / Son duo as Kumaraswamy started crying out at top of his voice, shouting “Papa, Mine is mine,Mine is mine; you told me so”. When some junior Congress MP’s from Karnataka walked down to console crying Kumaraswamy, Deve Gowda shouted at them, “You Congress people talk all about inclusive growth and priding yourselves as ‘Aam Admi Ka Sarkar(Government of common people)’. But see what your party has done to my family”.

We, reporters have witnessed so many heart-breaking scenes - Gujarat earth quake, Tsunami victims, Bihar Floods etc., but by far this is the most disturbing of all. We pray to God and appeal to PM and Finance minister to provide some relief for this MP’s in distress.

June 2nd is a memorable day in the life of Sonia Gandhi. This is the day she finally got certified by Mr. Sangma as an Indian.

Flash back – Year 1998; Congress got a golden chance to form government at the centre following the fall of Vajpayee led 13 month old government (fall - courtesy Jayalalitha and Subramaniam Swamy’s Tea party). There was a buzz about Sonia becoming prime minister. Most of the Congress and country men accepted it. But not all.

Marathi strong man Pawar opposed this move citing Sonia’s foreign origins. People can understand Pawar’s stand as he always had an eye on PM chair. So people were not surprised by his move. What really surprised people were Sangma - the non-controversial, arguably the political face of North-East India joining hands with Pawar. The resulting Nationalist Congress Party became such a formidable force, that in 10 years it grown to win 9 seats in Parliament.

This fact was bothering Sonia for long. Then Pawar surrendered in Year 2004 and got cabinet seat in last UPA government. But Sangma was reluctant and maintaining distance from Sonia for almost a decade.

But finally, Sangma yielded and called on the Congress leader. Congress sweep and his daughters political future seems to be the factors driven him to Sonia’s door. The meeting was cordial and Sonia was overjoyed by his unexpected gift.

A certificate stating in Hindi, English and all North-Eastern languages that Sonia is 100 % Indian. An emotional Sonia immediately ordered her son Rahul to frame that in Congress head quarters in Delhi.

If this certificate works well we can expect Sangma’s daughter landing in some plum post in Delhi. Everyone knows India is more Dynastocracy than Democracy.

Mumbai: Tata Nano today got a new entrant to its ever growing opposition list. After “Singur” Mamata Banerjee, “Go Green” Environmentalists and “Sleeping” Indian infrastructure planners now mothers of would-be Grooms are raising in protest against the cheapest car.

India is known as a great market for bride grooms. Even in this internet age Indian bride families are looted all their life savings in broad day light in name of marriages. Gold, two wheeler, cars, and cash… you name it they will be in the list of dowry demands from prospective Groom’s family. Their demand list at times makes even Kandahar Airplane hijackers look pious. Now this demanding group got challenged from an unexpected source - Indian corporate power house - Tata’s.

Tata had come up with world’s cheapest car - Nano which costs around 1 Lakh INR. So people may question why it concerns few mothers in India. The reason being - they initiated marriage process with car as one of the items in their dowry demand list. But what they haven’t anticipated is Brides family can achieve this demand with INR 1 Lakh.

Kaveriamma(54) from Bangalore was visibly agitated. She complained, “Last year we fixed the marriage of our elder son – Raghu, a Lawyer by Profession. As customary we demanded a car. The bride family gave a Maruti… Maruti some name (She can’t remember model) which was around 3 Lakh rupees. But this year when we fixed alliance for younger one Raj, a Doctor by Profession the bride’s family got away by giving this 1 Lakh Rupees car (Nano). I don’t know what to do.” (Reader should also note in India’s thriving matrimonial market selling price of Doctor Bride Grooms were quite higher than Lawyer ones.)

Story is same in every part of India. North, East, West and South - Mayawati Sharma’s, Mamata Chatterjee’s, Sonia Modi’s and VijayaPradha’s - aspiring for Maruthi’s, Toyotas, Fords and Honda’s for their sons need to settle for this 1 Lakh worth Nano.

But few sections of the society - Groom’s family were quite happy. Rajendran(64) father of two teen age girls said, “with the introduction of Nano, I got the dowry expenses cut by half. I convey my sincere thanks to Mr.Tata”.

Reading the pulse of Nano effect, India’s most progressive political party Samajwadi Party have promised to enact a law to ensure that minimum price of car to be given as dowry should be at least 3 Lakh Rupees.

London: While world fears US recession can turn in to a Global depression, G-20 leaders were in an upbeat mood on economic recovery.

As no force on Earth seem to be able to stop global economy going south more and more people are becoming pessimistic about future. Even the great forum involving traditional big players - G7 nations which control 50% of the world economy can’t arrive at a concrete solution.

So the traditional power players of G7 forum decided to include developing powers like India, China and Brazil which together control over 80% of world economy in discussions. Though the grouping was addressed as G20, Economists world wide viewed this as effectively G2 - US and China working on recovery path. But the path to recovery came from an unlikely source - Indian Parliamentary election.

G-20 meet convener, IMF Chief Stressullah Khan said, “Think about this, Indian politicians - the most corrupt in the world have stashed wealth in Swiss banks. Even by conservative estimates Gold and dollar bills stocked by Indian politicians would be equivalent to GDP of all G7 nations combined. With the Indian Parliament Election in mid 2009 they will definitely draw their wealth to invest in elections which normally happen once in 5 years.”

Asking how these few thousand Indian politicians drawing their money might help Indian masses, he replied “You don’t know about the way elections are conducted in that part of the world. People will be fooled by all free bees. Any thing be it - illicit liquor, free food, cinema tickets will buy votes / win elections there”.

When reporter’s questioned how this may help developed economies like G7 nations, he added “Interestingly, in few states politicians offer high tech goods like Television sets too. It happened during last elections in Tamil Nadu and same might be replicated this time in Andhra Pradesh. This time Tamil Nadu politicians are going further to announce free laptops for every household.”

While many Indian politicians were angry with IMF Chief’s comments and expects Indian Government to sharply react to those statements, Official Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is waiting for nod from Actual Prime Minister Sonia Gandhi to respond.

Delhi: 2009 seems to be special year for Indian democracy. Unlike other years this time Indian election commission needs to oversee celebration of April fools festival with much fanfare across 3 months (March 23rd to June 2nd). This is the largest in the world of its kind - billion plus population will be fooled phase after phase by crooked Indian politicians under live media coverage.
